When Krause Publications took over the magazine and renamed it ''Comic Buyer's Guide'', she and Don were hired as editors. When Don died in 1994, Maggie continued as editor. She remained in this role until the magazine ceased publication in 2013.

Maggie Thompson (born Margaret Curtis) is a second-generation fan who became active in fandom in her teens. Her mother was Betsy Curtis, an SF author.

Maggie and her husband, Don Thompson, were coeditors of the fanzines Harbinger, Comic Art, Rainy Days, and Newfangles.

The Thompsons were married in June, 1962. They had met in 1957 at a picnic at the home of SF author Basil Wells. Maggie graduated in 1964 from Oberlin College with a degree in English. She worked as a librarian until she quit to have children.

Maggie and Don did the "Beautiful Balloons" column for Alan Light's The Buyer's Guide for Comic Fandom. When Krause Publications took over the magazine and renamed it Comic Buyer's Guide, she and Don were hired as editors. When Don died in 1994, Maggie continued as editor. She remained in this role until the magazine ceased publication in 2013.
