The 30th Worldcon and third in L.A., L.A.Con I, was held September 1–4, 1972, in the International Hotel in Los Angeles. GoH: Frederik Pohl, FGoHs: Buck & Juanita Coulson. Robert Bloch was Toastmaster. Chaired by Chuck Crayne and Bruce Pelz. The convention newsletter was called Wabbit Twacks.

LA in '72 won over Baycon II in '72 in the 1972 Worldcon Site Selection held at Heicon in 1970. L.A.Con hosted the 1974 Worldcon Site Selection and 1972 Hugos.
