(September 7, 1908 – February 2, 1992)

James Russell “Rusty” Gray was an Oklahoma fan and poet active in the 1940s who began reading “Jules Verne, Edgar Rice Burroughs, and the old Argosy stfantasy tales” in the 1920s, according to his introduction to The Mad Muse. He also contributed poems to Rosebud, Sappho, Canadian Fandom, and other fanzines.

He married Aleen Hanna, a non-fan, in 1933; they had moved to Los Angeles by the time he died in 1992.
