Born John Obus McKnight, Jack was a long-time Philadelphia fan who found fandom after WW II and was active in the PSFS for his entire fannish life. In his mundane life he was a machinist and machined the trophys for the first Hugo Awards which were given out at Philcon II, the 1952 Worldcon in Philadelphia -- he spent most of the convention working on the awards and missed nearly all of it.

He was married first to Buddie McKnight (who later married Bill Evans) and then to Ann McKnight. His daughter, Peggy Rae Sapienza was a BNF in her own right.
