Lord was an American literary agent, editor, and publisher of the prose and poetry of fellow Texan Robert E. Howard. He is also considered by some to be the first and most important researcher of Howard's life and writings. He was a member of the Pulp Era Amateur Press Society, The Esoteric Order of Dagon, and of the Hyborian Legion with the title "Mayor of the Palace of Tarantia".
