George W. Proctor

(1946 -- 2010)

George W. Proctor was a Texas author who wrote SF, fantasy, horror, and western stories. He signed most of his work "Geo. W. Proctor."

In the early 1970s, he and his wife Lana edited/published a popular fanzine titled Citadel.

Proctor and Steven Utley edited Lone Star Universe (1970), a collection of never-before-published SF stories by Texas authors. Proctor also edited the Science Fiction Hall of Fame, Volume III, with Arthur C. Clarke. With Robert E. Vardeman, he wrote ten books in the "Swords of Raemllyn" fantasy series.

At the time of his death, Proctor was an instructor in the Communications department at the University of Texas at Arlington.
