Mary Gay Potter Haldeman has been going to SF conventions since 1963 and was a very active member of WSFA. She frequently appears on neofan’s panels at cons. She helped to found the Science Fiction League of Iowa Students at the University of Iowa in 1975. She is a member of the First Fandom club.

She earned Master's degree in Spanish Literature from the University of Maryland and another in Linguistics, from the University of Iowa. She has taught in the Writing Center at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), specializing in English as a second language.

She and her husband, Joe Haldeman, reside in Gainesville, Florida, where she manages Joe's career. She's been married to Joe since 1965.
