A club in the north-east of England. They began meeting at Ian Williams' house in Sunderland but on September 8, 1970, switched to a subterranean pub called The Gannet, from which their name, Gannetfandom, was bestowed by Greg Pickersgill.

Their publishing house was Gannet Press and they ran Silicon, as well as one Eastercon, a Mexicon and a Corflu, plus pubbing many fanzines.

Early members included Williams, Harry Bell, Ian Penman, Jim Marshall, Thom Penman, Ritchie Smith and Ian Maule.

Rob Jackson published a Gannet fanthology, Tyne Capsule, in 2015, online here.

Club 1970????
This is a club page. Please extend it by adding information about when and where the club met, when and by whom it was founded, how long it was active, notable accomplishments, well-known members, clubzines, any conventions it ran, external links to the club's website, other club pages, etc.

When there's a floreat (Fl.), this indicates the time or times for which we have found evidence that the club existed. This is probably not going to represent the club's full lifetime, so please update it if you can!
