Frances Trego Montgomery, a U.S. author mainly of children’s books, was best known for her series about Billy Whiskers, a mischievous goat, but she also wrote a stfnal duology, The Wonderful Electric Elephant (1903) and On a Lark to the Planets: A Sequel to the "Wonderful Electric Elephant" (1904), about Harold and Ione and their travels through the solar system in a space-going mechanical pachyderm.
