(Did you mean Frances Helen Sykora, her sister-in-law?)

(August 16, 1920 – April 1, 2006)

Frances T. Alberti (later Sykora, then Quarterman) attended the first Worldcon, NYCon, in 1939, with her older sister, Rose Alberti, and their parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. Alberti. She had been part of the Newark fan group.

She married Triumvir Will Sykora, one of the con’s organizers, and was a member of the Queens SF League, where she participated in the mini Exclusion Act at the January 1941 meeting. Her siblings, Rose and Bill, also belonged to the club.

She was first a “girl reporter” and later editor of Fantasy-News.

The Sykoras had a daughter, Annabelle, and four other children. Frances divorced Sykora in 1970, and, in 1975, married Leonard A. Quarterman (1920–1978).
