She was married to SF author/artist Harry Harrison until 1951; next, she married SF author Lester del Rey, his third wife.
She was killed in an automobile accident in Virginia on January 28, 1970, when she and del Rey were touring the South. According to Isaac Asimov's In Joy Still Felt (1980), she was 44 at the time of her death.
