Donato Giancola

Donato Theron Giancola, who frequently paints under the name Donato, is a professional artist specializing in narrative realism with SF and fantasy content. He created the portrait of Ursula Le Guin used on the U.S. postal stamp.

Born in Vermont, Giancola first majored in electrical engineering at the University of Vermont, but left for Syracuse University to pursue painting in 1989. He graduated with a BFA in 1992. Donato lives with his wife and two daughters in Brooklyn, NY.
