Cyberprep

Cyberprep is an amalgam of the prefix "cyber," referring to cybernetics and "preppy," reflecting its divergence from the punk elements of cyberpunk. The movement was founded in 1986 at Lunacon 29 and was especially prominent in the 1990s. Its principle proponents included Esther Friesner, Susan Shwartz, and Josepha Sherman.

A cyberprep world assumes that all the technological advancements of cyberpunk speculation have taken place but life is utopian rather than dangerous.

There are occasional hints in the Cyberprep literature that it may not have been entirely serious.
