A bid to hold the 1960 Worldcon in Chicago. It's difficult to tell how real it was, but it lost to Pittsburgh in '60 at site selection at Detention. (See 1960 Worldcon Site Selection for details.) Its competition was DC in 1960, Pittsburgh in '60 and Philadelphia in 1960.

It is possible that this bid did not exist, but both Harry Warner in A Wealth of Fable and Sam Moskowitz in his remembrance of Detention say that Earl Kemp had a Chicago in '60 bid which he withdrew. But if you look at the Chicago in 1962 ads from the Detention Progress Reports (see Chicago in 1962), it is clear that Kemp was bidding for 1962 and supporting Washington in 60 all along.
