Chengdu, the capital city of the west central province of Sichuan, China, is the country’s leading incubator of science fiction writing. The prozine Science Fiction World has been published in the city since 1979. It is the home of the Chengdu Science Fiction Museum, built in 2023.
Chengdu was selected as the site of the 2023 Worldcon.
The city is a center of scientific innovation and research.
