Becky Bennett Thomson (later Veal) was a founding member of the Northwest Science Fiction Society and served as an officer and Norwescon.
After moving to Florida, she helped found Oasis in Orlando and served as an officer. She started the Orlando in 1992 Worldcon bid, which she co-chaired with Joe Siclari and Tom Veal. She was then co-chairman of MagiCon until a few months before the convention, when she stepped down to vice chairman for health reasons.
Her subsequent fannish activities include serving as an associate chairman of Chicon 2000 and as a division or department head at numerous Worldcons. She was a member of BCAPA and VANAPA.
In 2016, she married fellow fan Tom Veal.
