(1942 --)

An [[American]] [[pro writer]] living in Maine who is probably best known for his award-winning novella "Enemy Mine", which was made into a move with a novelization by Longyear and [[David Gerrold]]. The original novella helped Longyear to become the only writer to received a [[Hugo]], the [[Campbell Award]], and a [[Nebula Award]] in the same year.

Recently, he has been writing mysteries.
