The successful bid by a Baltimore group for the 1983 Worldcon. It was opposed by the Australia in '83 and Worldcon Scandinavia in 1983 bids. See 1983 Worldcon Site Selection for full details.

One of their bidding schticks was Backrubs for Baltimore, an innovative fundraising effort, promoted by traveling jiants Moose and Squirrel, which would likely not fly in more puritanical 21st-century fandom.

Chairman: Michael Walsh
Committee: Edie Williams (vice-chairman), Scott Dennis (secretary), B. Shirley Avery (treasurer), Ted Manekin (facilities liaison) and about 60 other bid committee members.
