Balticon 17 was a convention held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Baltimore, MD, Easter weekend, April 9-11, 1983. The GoHs were L. Sprague de Camp, Catherine Crook de Camp, and Anne Trembley, and the FGoHs were Jack Chalker and Eva Whitley. Additionally Andre Norton was the "Non-Attending Guest", but she had to cancel out of the promised phone interview.

The co-chairmen were Edie Williams and Pat Kelly.

C. J. Cherryh, Hal Clement, Joe Haldeman, and Andrew Offutt were all Special Guests. Because there were so many, it seems unlikely that these were actually GoH positions.

Donald Kingsbury won the Compton Crook Award for Courtship Rite.
