Best Novel Hugo Category for 1953:

Winner: The Demolished Man by Alfred Bester (Galaxy Jan,Feb,Mar 1952; Shasta, 1951).

This first year of the Hugos there was no shortlist of nominees, nor voting by the members of the convention. The winner was chosen by the Philcon II committee.
