Odyssey Con 2017

Odyssey Con XVII -- Forbidden Pasture was held April 28-30, 2017 at the Radisson Hotel in Madison, WI, and had originally scheduled as Guests of Honor filmmaker Christopher R. Mihm, editor and game designer Monica Valentinelli, and author Tad Williams. However, Valentinelli was dismayed to discover that her assigned guest liaison was someone who had harassed her in the past, and after reporting this to the convention and not being satisfied with their response, she withdrew as GoH. Over the course of the next week, Mihm and Williams withdrew as well.

The convention subsequently announced as replacement GoHs filmmaker Michael Butts and artist Brent Chumley, while facing criticism that they had not acknowledged nor appropriately addressed the concerns of the original GoHs who had withdrawn. In the end, while that year's convention went ahead, the problems appeared to be deep enough that the convention was discontinued in 2018.
