Leslyn MacDonald Heinlein was the daughter of Colin MacDonald and Florence Caroline Gleason, and the second wife (1932 - 1947) of SF author Robert A. Heinlein. She earned a master's degree in philosophy from USC.
Heinlein took his most famous pen name of Anson MacDonald from his middle name and Leslyn's surname.
She was married after her divorce from Robert Heinlein in 1948 to a Jules G. Mocabee.
It has been written that, while married to Heinlein, she served as his "story doctor."
