A local convention draws fans from only a short distance around the convention site, rarely attracting Traveling Jiants.
Often, area fans do not book hotel rooms but commute from home. Sometimes, they are one-day cons. These conventions may attract many ghosts.
With the proliferation of conventions, some cons that used to be regionals have devolved into local cons.
