A club, also known as the Gainesville Speculative Literature Society, which was located in Gainesville, FL. It was a loose organization of local fans (Eve Ackerman, Steven Boyett, Mary Anne Emerson, Jay Haldeman, Bill Hatfield, and David Palmer) including a number of published writers.

It met to watch VHS and Beta recordings of SF shows and to talk books and comics. It often met at a local SF-oriented bookstore, Goering's Books and in later years met at The Philosophy Store. (Both stores served coffee, a rarity at the time.) The club was active starting in the late 70s and drifted apart 8-10 years later. It did do some publications, mostly fanfic.

Club
This is a club page. Please extend it by adding information about when and where the club met, when and by whom it was founded, how long it was active, notable accomplishments, well-known members, clubzines, any conventions it ran, external links to the club's website, other club pages, etc.

When there's a floreat (Fl.), this indicates the time or times for which we have found evidence that the club existed. This is probably not going to represent the club's full lifetime, so please update it if you can!
