The World of Fanzines
Revision as of 10:15, 8 December 2024 by JVjr (talk | contribs) (again Category:US, I suppose this could be among Fanzines too. Link ISFDB for reviews)
The World of Fanzines: A Special Form of Communication was the last book by Fredric Wertham, M. D., published by Southern Illinois University Press (1973). The book runs to 133 pages excluding the index (144 altogether) and includes 32 pages of fan art. It is likely the first academic book-length study of fanzines. Wertham's portrayal is essentially sympathetic, albeit drawn on a relatively small sample of fanzines, skewed towards comics.
It had (at least) eight reviews in fan- as well as prozines, see its listing in ISFDB.
