Harry Douthwaite

Harry Warren Douthwaite, from 1984 Harry Warren, was a fan and artist from Manchester, UK active from the early 1960s. He joined the BSFA in 1960 and was a member of the Young Science Fiction Reading Group in 1961. He gave his interests as 'art' in the YSFRG Newsletter #2 (March 1961).
In a letter to Relapse #20 (August 2012), Warren said that after joining the BSFA he sent off for various fanzines 'and offered to do drawings for them as I couldn't afford to buy them.' He contributed art to Les Spinge and Amra among others.
He was a member of LXIcon and Ronvention, and attended the latter to meet 'my hero, Jim Cawthorn'. Cawthorn suggested he offer some work to Michael Moorcock for his fanzine, Ergo Ego, but Moorcock had stopped publishing fanzines by this point. He did later offer Douthwaite a tryout for New Worlds where he contributed several pieces as well as a cover for Moorcock's novel, The Final Programme. He later contributed artwork to Dave Britton's Savoy Books.
ISFDB says that Douthwaite legally changed his name to Harry Warren in 1984.
