The Children of the Night Award is awarded by the Dracula Society on an annual basis since 1987. Nominations are invited each January from the members for the best piece of literature published in the Gothic (including horror or supernatural) genre -- novel, short story, or biography -- for the previous year.

Nomination forms for this award are sent to all members, and the accepted nominated works are then read and judged by an award subcommittee, whose volunteer members are selected by the Society Committee.
