• The original story won the Best Short Fiction Hugo.
• The novel it was expanded into was a runner-up for the Best Novel Hugo.
• The teleplay The Two Worlds of Charlie Gordon, based on the short story, was nominated for the Best Dramatic Presentation Hugo.
• The movie Charly, based on the novel, was nominated for the Best Dramatic Presentation Hugo.
