Jim S. Avery was an early fan from Maine, who is listed in Walt Daugherty's Directory of Fandom (April 1942). He was a member of the MSA, and attended Mainecon, Jr.. With Harry Warner, he was a part of the Barbarian Invasion and founded United Publications.
