From Fancyclopedia 2, ca. 1959
(Brazier:Joquel) Abbreviation for fanzine. Pronounced "femz" but distinguished from "femmes" by accompanying the latter word with a whistle and descriptive gesture.
While it is an abbreviation for fanzine, it actually comes from "Fan MagaZine".
A fanzine by Alan Shaw of Far Rockaway, NY.
