James S. W. “Red” Avery, a Virginia fan active in the 1950s and ’60s, published the fanzine Errr! and wrote articles for other zines. He was on the SAPS WL.

Red was the son of early fan Jim Avery, born in Needham, MA in 1947. In 1999, he was living in Lower Makefield Township, Pennsylvania, and had two sons, Brian and Matthew.
