This term was self-applied by some Australian fans, who declared themselves to be fans of SF in both literature and media. There had been a divide in Australian fandom to the extent of there being both an Australian Natcon (regarded as a literary convention) and an Australian National Media Convention.
The Good Fairies Handbook by Ian Gunn is self-described as "A New Wave fandom publication".
