(January 6, 1874 – February 25, 1965)
Sydney Fowler Wright was a UK sf and mystery author, editor, and poet, as well as being an accountant and a conservative political activist.
In sf he is remembered today principally for his novels The Amphibians (1924), The Island of Captain Sparrow (1928), Deluge (1928), and The World Below (1929).
He also wrote as Sydney Fowler and Anthony Wingrave.
Writing in Fantasy Times #128 (April 2, 1951), Forrest J Ackerman, already arrived in London in advance of the Festivention, said that 'Amongst notables attending will be S. Fowler Wright'. However, Wright's name isn't mentioned in any of the convention reports as it surely would have been had he been present.
