The first Norwestercon was held in Portland, OR at the Heathman Hotel, May 29-31, 1970. According to a report in Norstrilian News, about 130 attended. The programs consisted of three parties, three panels and a couple of other minor items. Main speakers were Frank Herbert and Ursula K. LeGuin. The SCA Barony of the Middle Kingdom held its first tourney at the convention on May 29th.
