The 1958 Outstanding Movie Hugo was presented September 1 at Solacon. While there was still no nominations process, the award was voted on by fans. This was the first time a Hugo had been awarded for a movie and was the beginning of the long-time Best Dramatic Presentation Hugo category.
Winner: The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957) [Universal] Screenplay by Richard Matheson; Directed by Jack Arnold; based on the Matheson novel.
