The 1948 Worldcon, first in Canada, Torcon was held July 3-5 1948 at the RAI Purdy Studios in Toronto, Canada. GoH: Robert Bloch. FGoH: Bob Tucker. Chaired by Ned McKeown.

It was selected at Philcon defeating a bid from Milwaukee, WI, it was sponsored by the Derelicts (the Toronto Science Fiction Society), and it was the first Worldcon to be held outside the United States.

The complete talks at Torcon were tape recorded and later printed in the Torcon Report. Its progress reports were issued as the fanzine, Torque edited by Beak Taylor.
