ICON 42 was held September 29-October 1, 2017 in Cedar Rapids, IA. The GoHs were Wesley Chu, H. Russ Brown, Sheril Harper, Joe Haldeman, and Gay Haldeman. Jim C. Hines was toastmaster. The convention's theme was "Hitchhikers Guide to ICON42".
