Czech writer Karel Čapek's 1920 SF play about Rossum's Universal Robots (Rossumovi Univerzální Roboti), which introduced the term robot.

It was also the inspiration for “Q.U.R.,” a 1943 SF story by Anthony Boucher (see Liquors).
