Sam Long, an Illinois fan, published the fanzines Gunputty, QWERTYUIOP and The Mae Strelkov Trip Report.
While in the Air Force, he lived in the UK from 1968–72, and Florida from 1972–75. Before that, he lived in Chapel Hill, NC, attending the University of North Carolina.
He was married, for a time, to Mary Legg.
