A successful Worldcon bid for the 1979 Worldcon, bidding the Hyatt Regence Hotel, the Adasm Hotel and the Phoenix Civic Plaze Convention Canter. It beat its competitor, LA in '78, at Midamericon and went on to run Iguanacon. See 1978 Worldcon Site Selection.

The first co-chairs were Greg Brown and Curt Stubbs and then later solely Greg Brown. Other members of the bid committee were Tim Kyger, Carol Hoag, Jim Corrick, Hilde Brown and Bill Patterson. East Coast agents were Rick Gellman and Louie Spooner.
