Site selection for the 2022 Worldcon was held at CoNZealand in 2020. Two bids filed by the deadline, Chicago in 2022 and Jeddicon. Chicago won by 517 votes to 33 and will run Chicon 8.

A very late letter of concern about the Saudi Worldcon bid got some press coverage, but was widely criticized in that that its demand for WSFS to exclude unsuitable bids showed that the writers did not understand that all Worldcon members are equal WSFS members. There is no central committee that could vet bids outside the existing site selection process.
