(???? – )
Frederick James Fairless[1]was a UK fan from Stockport active in the 1950s. He was a member of the N3F in 1952 and in the same year operated the UK branch of the Operation Fantast postal library, taking over from Mike Tealby.
He attended Festivention and the NECON in 1951, and the Mancon in 1952.
It seems likely that at some point between 1952 and 1954 he moved north to the Newcastle area as in March 1954 he was elected treasurer and librarian of the North East Science Fiction Society (NESFS)[2].
He is not listed in Ron Bennett's Directory of Science Fiction Fandom for 1955.
____
- ↑ The National Fantasy Fan (February–March 1952) gives his name as James F. Fairless but that for April–May 1952 has Frederick James Fairless. He was invariably Fred Fairless in UK fandom.
- ↑ Then, page 125.
