Hartley Patterson, a British fan of both science fiction and gaming, published the fantasy fanzine Midgard, a Tolkien fanzine (later a RPG fanzine) News from Bree, and Britain's third postal diplomacy fanzine, War Bulletin (which he took over from its original editor Dave Berg), plus another diplomacy zine, Queen Victoria's Funeral. He lived in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire.
