The Australian Science Fiction Society was an association founded by Graham Stone to enable Australian fans to keep in contact with one another. It was announced in the first issue of Woomera, dated February 1951. The group was later renamed the Australasian Science Fiction Society to recognize its New Zealand members.

On 28 August 1952, Race Mathews was appointed the ASFS Local Secretary for Melbourne. By November 1952 they had 122 members and Lyell Crane became secretary general[1].

Club 1951
This is a club page. Please extend it by adding information about when and where the club met, when and by whom it was founded, how long it was active, notable accomplishments, well-known members, clubzines, any conventions it ran, external links to the club's website, other club pages, etc.

When there's a floreat (Fl.), this indicates the time or times for which we have found evidence that the club existed. This is probably not going to represent the club's full lifetime, so please update it if you can!
