Beefasm was the term proposed by D. R. Smith for members of the British Fantasy Society (BFS) in British Fantasy Society Bulletin #8.

Smith seemingly pronounced BFS be-ef-as, Beefas, hence its members were Beefasms. Or rather the male members were. Female members were Beefasmettes, not that there were all that many of those with the first being member #70. Developing the idea, Smith also suggested that BFS director J. Michael Rosenblum was the Beefasdic, Smith himself as secretary was the Beefasec, the Bulletin was the Beefasbull, while the organisation could have the the motto 'Be good, sweet fan and Beefasm'.
