An early fan who discovered sf around 1931. He became an active member of the SFL and was assistant director of the Millheim SFL chapter.
He attended Chicon along with the first Mrs. Richard Frank, whose first name was Ruth. In 1949 he married Etta (Moore) Hitt, with whom he raised two of her sons and two of theirs. He worked for Grit as an editor, and also published science fiction novels.
