The first NASFiC was held August 29–September 1 (Labor Day weekend), 1975, in Los Angeles, California, at the Los Angeles Airport Marriott, organized as alternative to Aussiecon. The GoH was Harlan Ellison.

It was chaired by Chuck Crayne, and attendance was 1,100. It appears to have been put together by the LA in '75 Worldcon bid committee after their bid lost to Australia in '75, using the same facilities and date. Reports indicated that the programming was largely fringe fandom-oriented.

NASFiC 1 was not designated with a unique nickname.
