John Taylor was a founding member of the Kansas City Science Fiction and Fantasy Society in 1971. He ran Kansas City's only sf store, Hobbit House and founded its first science fiction convention, chaired BYOB-con 8, and was instrumental in running MidAmeriCon, the 1976 Worldcon in Kansas City. He recently helped with the Heinlein Centennial and co-chaired ConQuesT 40.
