Douglas R. Webster was active in fandom in the pre-war years and helped keep British fandom alive after the SFA folded. He helped Mike Rosenblum by cutting stencils for Futurian War Digest and became the publisher of Fantast when Sam Youd was called up for service. He applied the theory of Numerical fandoms to Britain (see Anglofan).
