Furry fandom, a fringe fandom, revolves around anthropomorphized cartoon animals with art, cosplay, fiction and games, which may have sexual overtones. Fanartists, including Taral Wayne, Ken Fletcher and Reed Waller, began this movement in the 1980s.
Furry conventions include Anthrocon, Further ConFusion, Midwest Furfest, and FurWAG, and the field gives out the Ursa Major Awards, the Cóyotl Awards, and the Leo Awards.
